Challenge
Adelaide Brighton Limited sought to enhance their Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) practices across the organisation. They aimed to develop a comprehensive strategy to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within their workforce.
Approach
A Human Agency (A-HA) was engaged to review the existing D&I practices at Adelaide Brighton Limited and develop a strategy for enhanced D&I. We conducted listening sessions across a diverse sample of employees to understand the current status and gather insights.
Solution
Insights from the listening sessions were synthesised and combined with best practices to develop a renewed 5-year D&I strategy. Feedback from key stakeholders, including the leadership team, was incorporated to ensure the strategy was leader-led. The framework included strategic initiatives to attract a broader diversity of talent and establish D&I behaviours as consistent standards across sites. A-HA collaborated with listening groups to ensure the strategy reflected their vision for the future of D&I at Adelaide Brighton Limited.
Experience
A-HA facilitated workshops to enhance D&I capability among leaders and drive accountability for leading by example. The strategy was then rolled out across the organisation to promote a culture of inclusivity. In 2020, A-HA conducted a review of workplace culture and assessed appropriate workplace behaviours, incorporating both qualitative and quantitative approaches. Despite challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the review was conducted remotely, ensuring a thorough assessment of the desired organisational culture against the current state. Through structured interviews and document reviews, A-HA provided valuable insights to further enhance D&I efforts within Adelaide Brighton Limited.
