Challenge

Essential Energy wanted to increase inclusive leadership and cultural capability in advance of a high value diversity hiring strategy being implemented, which could not afford to fail at either an individual, team or organisational level.

Approach

In 2018, A-HA was engaged to design and deliver a customised Inclusion workshop aligned with Essential Energy’s values and desired outcomes. We collaborated closely with Essential Energy’s internal HR and OD teams to co-design the workshop, ensuring it addressed the organisation’s specific needs.

Solution

A-HA provided skilled facilitators who delivered 39 sessions across 29 locations, tailored to the varied operating environments of each region. Workshops were designed for different stakeholders and audiences, including depot leaders, regional leaders, HR and OD teams, and the Executive Leadership Team.

Experience

The success of the 2018 workshop led to further engagements in 2019 and 2023. In 2019, A-HA designed a complementary workshop on appropriate workplace behaviours and inclusive leadership, delivered across 24 regional locations in NSW. Although workshops for 2020 were postponed due to COVID-19, A-HA collaborated with Essential Energy to develop alternative blended learning approaches. This included online learning and face-to-face sessions, complemented by pre- and post-learning activities. In 2023 A-HA delivered over 70 online sessions reaching over 700 employees. Through these initiatives, A-HA continues to support Essential Energy in building a more inclusive workplace culture.

What our clients have to say

A-HA was able to provide a pool of skilled facilitators, who demonstrated their subject matter expertise whilst delivering 39 sessions across 29 locations at extremely short notice. Due to our extensive regional footprint, it was imperative that the facilitators understood the varied and often complex operating environments for each of our regions, which A-HA were able to demonstrate a flexible approach which drove consistency across the program roll out.
